Kaizer Chiefs celebrated their 52nd birthday intimately at their Village in Naturena on Friday, 7 January 2022.

Kaizer Motaung and his peers established the club in 1969 as Kaizer XI but they would later rename it Kaizer Chiefs.

Now, with the season in recess for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Chiefs decided to celebrate at their base in Naturena.

In 2020, Chiefs turned their birthday into a spectacle as they celebrated their 50th birthday with their fans at FNB Stadium in a match against Highlands Park.

Present for the cutting of the cake were Amakhosi head coach Stuart Baxter, chairman Motaung, Molefi Ntseki, Arthur Zwane, the players and members of the management among others.

This was Baxter’s first public appearance since December 2021 when Chiefs were hit by the Covid-19 outbreak within their camp.

Baxter missed the three games that Chiefs played in December 2021 as Zwane and Dillon Sheppard took over.

Now, the veteran mentor is expected to lead Chiefs from the bench when they take on Cape Town City on 15 February.
