KAIZER CHIEFS GOALKEEPER SITUATION ON THE UP?

16-year-old Amakhosi ‘keeper Takalani Mazhamba has been in the club’s development structures for some time and earmarked to make a big impact on the first team. He travelled to Algeria for the U17 Africa Cup of Nations in April and May this year. Right now the number 1 spot at Naturena is up for debate, with Bruce Bvuma currently the man between the sticks and captain Itumeleng Khune suspended and excluded from all activities after arriving at training under the influence of alcohol. Brandon Petersen, meanwhile, has fallen out of favour after a spate of recent mistakes. Karabo Molefe, just 20, is currently doing his best to usurp Bvuma after returning from a wrist injury.

NATURENA IS NEVER A DULL PLACE

Chiefs recruited heavily in September with nine new faces arriving and numerous others leaving as the club seeks to end a long trophy drought. Cup exits in the MTN8 and Carling Knockout led to unrest among supporters, which boiled over into violence towards manager Molefi Ntseki and his position became untenable. Several new arrivals have settled in well, especially central defenders Given Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, but doubts linger over attacking stars Ranga Chivaviro, Mduduzi Mdantsane and Tebogo Potsane.

Cavin Johnson doesn’t believe the club need to add any new faces.
