Heartbreak for Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns as top target rejects BOTH! 

Maritzburg United are on the verge of selling one of the most wanted players in Karim Kimvuidi, but it doesn’t look like it will be to Orlando Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns.

Maritzburg United are on the verge of selling one of the most wanted players in Karim Kimvuidi, but it doesn’t look like it will be to Orlando Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns

Although Kaizer Chiefs have also been occasionally mentioned as an interested party in Kimvuidi, it has mostly been Pirates and Sundowns at the forefront.

So far, Pirates have already confirmed that they have signed TS Galaxy goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi, All Stars midfielder Siphelo Baloni,  Marumo Gallants winger Katlego Otladisa and SuperSport United’s Patrick Maswanganyi, who were all unveiled by the Soweto giants last month.  On the other hand, Sundowns have already announced the signing of Lesiba Nku from Gallants, as well as those of Junior Mendieta, Brazilian striker Lucas Ribeiro Costa while young sensation Thapelo Maseko was also being unveiled this month.

Maritzburg, through their chairman Farouk Kadodia have always maintained that they would require top dollar for any of their key players and wouldn’t just release them easily because of their relegation. He his then quoted any team that wants to sign Kimvuidi R15 million. The player himself then confirmed that the club chairman had already given him the green light to leave the club, but any club that wanted his services, whether it be Pirates, Sundowns, Chiefs or any team overseas team wanted him, they would now have to pay R12 million for his services.

Kimvuidi also confirmed that there was a team that offered R10 million for his services, it is unclear whether it was Chiefs, Pirates or Sundowns or even a PSL team for that matter, as there has also been interest in the player from North Africa and Europe. Turkish topflight side Alanyaspor are also thought to be interest in taking the player away from South African shores.

But the latest news doing the rounds is that, neither of the clubs above will get Kimvuidi’s services, according to TimesLIVE, the player has set his signs on moving to America, rather than either of Pirates, Sundowns or Chiefs. 

Kimvuidi to snub Pirates, Sundowns and Chiefs

“Kimvuidi has got his mind set that he wants to play in the MLS, so we are supporting him on that move, We have had two or three enquiries we are trying to finalise.” Said Kadodia.

That looks like the end of the Kimvuidi dream then, for Pirates, Sundowns or Chiefs.
