Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye reckons Thembinkosi Lorch will succeed at Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 30-year-old lasted 62 minutes in his debut match for Mamelodi Sundowns against his old club Orlando Pirates.

Lorch hardly made an impact during the game but Khanye said the winger “fitted like a glove” and should give Themba Zwane competition.

“Lorch did very well, he fitted like a glove. There is competition for ‘Mshishi’ [Themba Zwane] now,” Khanye told iDiski TV.

“He [Zwane] is a legend for Sundowns, but now there is someone [also] there with a high profile who does well for himself. He was dynamic and he played well off the ball,” he said.

Former Orlando Pirates legend Benedict Tso Vilakazi said Lorch’s move to Sundowns shocked him.

“I am shocked that Orlando Pirates have allowed their key player to join their rivals,” he told iDiski Times.

“Thembinkosi Lorch was an important player for Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns were fighting against Pirates for the league title.

Junior Khanye calls Orlando Pirates striker lazy and costly

“I’m not saying it’s a bad move, I’m just saying I didn’t see it coming. None of us saw this coming,” said the Pirates legend.
