Gavin Hunt’s incredible career record against Orlando Pirates

Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt added to his incredible coaching record against Orlando Pirates in Sunday’s Soweto derby at the FNB Stadium.

Thanks to Samir Nurkovic’s 54th-minute winner for Amakhosi, Hunt has now coached FIVE teams to at least one victory over the Buccaneers.

The 56-year-old mentor has overseen league victories over Orlando Pirates while at the helm of Hellenic, Moroka Swallows, SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits and now Kaizer Chiefs.

Hunt did have to wait until his fourth match against Orlando Pirates as Kaizer Chiefs coach to pick up that elusive win.

Hunt, who played over 300 matches for Hellenic during his playing career, was facing Orlando Pirates in an official match as a coach for the 62nd time. Sunday’s win was his 20th success in those matches.

Gavin Hunt’s greatest success to date came with SuperSport United whom he coached to a hat-trick of PSL titles in 2007/08, 2008/09 and 2009/10.

He picked up a fourth title with Wits in 2016/17.

Kaizer Chiefs’ next assignment will be a CAF Champions League match at home against Wydad Athletic Club on Saturday, 3 April while their next DStv Premiership outing will also be at home against Stellenbosch FC on Tuesday, 6 April.
