Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt was full of praise for youngster Rowan Human after he scored his first PSL goal in the Cleverboys 2-1 win over Amazulu on Friday.

Human scored the opening goal of the clash with a sharp finish after the ball fell kindly in the box, but Hunt feels the 19-year-old should already have had a goal to his name.

Hunt praises teenaged midfielder after Wits win

The coach praised the versatility of the attacking midfielder who has been asked to play out of position.

“Well he (Rowan) should have had a couple already, he’s missed a few,” said Hunt after the match.

“He should have scored against Golden Arrows when he hit the post from a rebound.

“I’m glad he got a goal, I mean he was magnificent, great game again from him. We played him out of position because we didn’t have any players to play in that position and he was magnificent.”

Hunt also praised the impact made by second-half substitute Terrence Dzvukamanja. He credited the Zimbabwean with inspiring a much-improved second half showing after a first period that saw them register just one shot on goal.

“Terrence Dzvukamanja just makes a big difference in our team; I mean you saw when he came on in the second half. He couldn’t play 90 minutes, he hasn’t trained at all but he was magnificent and he’s a catalyst,” Hunt added.

The most important thing is the win

The Bidvest Wits trainer is delighted that his team finally bagged three points having played to successive draws since the PSL restart.

“The most important thing is the victory. I mean we’ve been playing well this whole period since we are back. We’ve been playing very well but we haven’t scored.

“Today we scored and we had a good couple of opportunities as well, which I though “oh here we go again” especially in the first half, it looked like one of those days again and we couldn’t score a goal for the life of me. We got the two goals and we just threw it away with bad tactical play from our players who was just in an area he didn’t need to be in and the last couple of minutes we held on a bit. They didn’t really threaten us much today but good fighting effort again. Commitment was there and I could ask for more,” Hunt said.
