Hunt: Sundowns, Chiefs & Pirates will be tough opponents

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt says Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will be tough opponents next season.

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt believes Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Kaizer Chiefs will be tough opponents as they have signed well.

Chiefs and Pirates have bolstered their squads while SuperSport have also brought in new faces such as Terrence Dzvukamanja.

Apart from the man who joined from Pirates last week, Dzvukamanja, Hunt has also lured Phathutshedzo Nange and Grant Margeman from Chiefs and Sundowns respectively.

The four-time Premier Soccer League winner with SuperSport and Bidvest Wits, Hunt said defending champions, Sundowns are always title favourites to win the league

At the same time, he praised Chiefs and Pirates for bringing in quality players ahead of the DStv Premiership season.

With two weeks before the start of the new season, Hunt also hopes for an improved showing after finishing third in the previous term.

“Sundowns have found a formula and have put the money where their mouth is. They go out and get what they want,” said Hunt.

“I think Pirates will certainly be better, Kaizer Chiefs have signed well this year and they have a good squad of players, I think they will be better.

“Cape Town City will always be competitive, so there are already teams that could be taking points from one another and around each other.

“What we need to do better that we didn’t do…against the bottom teams last year. We did well against the top teams, but we didn’t do well against the bottom teams, so that’s where we need to be better.”

On the other hand, the Tshwane-based SuperSport have also announced the signings of Etiosa Ighodaro and keeper Washington Arubi from Sundowns and Marumo Gallants.

HUNT HAS NO SLEEPLESS NIGHTS OVER DZVUKAMANJA

Meanwhile, The South African recently published that Hunt said he has no sleepless over the talk that he snatched Dzvukamanja from Pirates.

Known for giving no-holds-barred interviews with the media, Hunt decided to remain a gentleman and said he doesn’t lose his sleep over the talented hitman’s move.

He added that it is not a secret that he his club, SuperSport wanted to sign Dzvukamanja from Pirates in the January transfer window.

“So I sleep well and with a clear conscience and that’s all we can do and try and concentrate going forward so that is all we can,” he said.
