SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt wants to see both local and foreign coaches treated the same by the South African Football Association (SAFA).

SAFA have announced plans to introduce coaching requirements for coaches based outside of South Africa.

The local governing body want all potential foreign DStv Premiership coaches to hold a UEFA Pro or CAF A Licence and have to had won a trophy in the past seven years.

Gavin Hunt explained according to TimesLIVE: “At any professional level, it doesn’t matter what country or where, there should be a certain criterion to be able to work. Be it a local or a foreigner, there should be certain criteria.

“I see it has just come out now, but it should have been done a long time ago. There should have been criteria to coach at a top level and it must be for any football league in the world. Even in the second and third division, there should be certain criteria to coach there.”

SuperSport United are currently in second place in the DStv Premiership log with 26 points after 14 matches.

They will next be in league action in a mouth-watering clash at home against Orlando Pirates on Saturday, 23 December.

Kick-off is at 17:45.

Their final league assignment of 2023 will be on the road against Richards Bay on Saturday, 30 December at 15:30.
