WOW: Kaizer Chiefs trophy drought will continue into a ninth year
Njabulo Blom scored the winner for St. Louis City against Bongokuhle Hlongwane and Minnesota United on Sunday. It was Blom’s first-ever career goal at the senior level, and he was also named man of the match. Blom didn’t score a single goal in his four-and-a-half seasons in the top flight of South African football. You wouldn’t know it though judging by the quality of his 73rd-minute curled effort. It’s an overdue moment, not because scoring goals is remotely part of Blom’s job, but because he’s a top player and all top players should add goals to their repertoire.
