It’s well known that Amakhosi have a slight goalkeeping dilemma on their hands. However, two young successors have emerged from the DDC side. Lungile Nkosi is one, and the other is Karabo Molefe. 20-year-old Molefe has been urged to mount a challenge for the number 1 spot at Naturena. He has been part of the first team group since 2019 but has yet to make his senior debut for Amakhosi because of a serious recent wrist injury. He’s fit again now though.

Chiefs have been active in their search for a new left-footed central defender to add depth and competition for Thatayaone Ditlhokwe. Bradley Cross is a name who’s been linked, but the club could have an internal solution in the shape of Aden McCarthy.

20-year-old Donay Jansen, cousin of Bernard Parker, has trained with the senior side and bagged 12 goals in the DDC last season. A wide attacker blessed with pace and directness, Jansen could inject some life into the Chiefs attack. Meanwhile, Mfundo ‘Obriado’ Vilakazi is on the brink of a senior debut after dazzling in the DDC side for a while. He’s especially popular for his flamboyant dribbling skills which have impressed the first-team technical staff.
