Over the past few seasons, Buchanan has struggled to find a new football home and this publication is led to believe that he has already signed on the dotted line with Spurs.

According to a source close to the developments, the Cape Town-born creative midfielder was looking to return to the South African top flight after spending the past few years in KwaZulu-Natal with PSL sides, Maritzburg United and Usuthu.

The signing comes after Spurs made their return to the PSL, Spurs PRO Thabiso Mekuto also confirmed that Buchanan was training with Spurs last week.

The South African also published that the 31-year-old ex-Chiefs playmaker has struggled to secure a stable football home since leaving the now-defunct Phunya Sele Sele, Bloemfontein Celtic.

Buchanan’s career looked stable while he was on the books of Celtic between 2013 and 2016 – perhaps played his best football there.

However, it started to take a nosedive as soon as he joined Chiefs in 2016 where made just 10 appearances over seasons due to injuries and loss of form.

The Team of Choice came to rescue his ailing career, however, that stint ended abruptly in January 2021 just before heading to KZN rivals, AmaZulu handed him a lifeline in July of that year.

As things stand, he will reunite with former Maritzburg teammates in Clayton Daniels and Nazeer Allie who are part of the Spurs setup.
