Between the two giants of South African football, there are currently eight players sitting on three yellow cards who run the risk of being banned from the much-anticipated clash at the FNB Stadium on Sunday, 8 May at 17:30.

It’s just a crying shame the match won’t have any bearing on the outcome of this season’s DStv Premiership title with Masandawana having already claimed the honours for a fifth consecutive season.

Kaizer Chiefs have FIVE players who will need to be extra-careful with their actions in Amakhosi’s league match later on Tuesday, 3 May (19:30) at home to Marumo Gallants.

Those Glamour Boys who are just one yellow card (or red card for that matter) away from an automatic suspension are: Cole Alexander, Daniel Cardoso, Phathutsedzo Nange, Reeve Frosler and Siyabonga Ngezana

Resting any of that quintet will present a massive risk for interim Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane with Amakhosi currently on a run of four straight defeats and in desperate need of every log point that can get.

Problem is far bigger for Kaizer Chiefs

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns, who are away to Sekhukhune United at Ellis Park on Tuesday, 3 May (17:30) have Lyle Lakay, Mothobi Mvala and Teboho Mokoena all facing a possible one-match suspension.

The problem is a far bigger one for Kaizer Chiefs, not only in numerical terms, but in terms of depth to replace any suspended player as Amakhosi don’t enjoy nearly as great a pool of talent as that of Mamelodi Sundowns.

As reported by The South African website, Mamelodi Sundowns have had a record 23 different players score goals in all competitions this season.
