Did Kaizer Chiefs break their promise to two released players?

Kaizer Chiefs have released five players so far but two of the players’ agents are crying foul over how Amakhosi dribbled their clients.

It seems as if Kaizer Chiefs may have caught some of their players off-guard when they announced their departures.

Sifiso Hlanti and Siyethemba Sithebe are two of the five players released by the club last week. Sithebe, who joined Chiefs from AmaZulu in 2022 enjoyed his revival in the latter stages of the season under Cavin Johnson. His agent, Sihlangu Sithebe claims Amakhosi assured the player a place in the squad next season.

Kaizer Chiefs release players, agent cries foul

“They told us that they will not renew the contract because they have chosen to look for other players. It didn’t bother us that they promised us from time to time that the contract would be renewed. I came to Naturena many times and they confirmed that the contract will be renewed. But I will not criticize them even though it did not go well and we will not make this a big issue,” Sihlangu Sithebe told Isolezwe.

Like other Kaizer Chiefs players released, Sithebe is set to have attracted some PSL teams. Njabulo Ngcobo, who was part of the five players who left, joined Sekhukhune United last week.

“There are teams that have already jumped, showing that they want him. We have started talking to them. There are those in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. Everything will become clear in time,” Sithebe said about his agent’s future.

Nabi set to be unveiled as the new Amakhosi coach in the week

With more players expected to leave, Kaizer Chiefs could rebuild next season with a new coach coming in this week.

Sifiso Hlanti’s agent Sizwe Ntshangase said he was surprised that his client’s contract was not renewed. Chiefs informed Hlanti that he would be assessed by the incoming coach but the veteran defender was released before the new coach landed in South Africa.
