Defender Thabiso Monyane calls on Orlando Pirates to forget about Thembinkosi Lorch’s exit who is with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The versatile Pirates defender says this ahead of their DStv Premiership clash versus Sundowns, urging his mates to forget about Lorch’s exit.

For now, it remains unclear if Rulani Mokwena will unleash Lorch as Sundowns welcome Pirates at Loftus Versfeld this weekend.

“We still have some good players in our squad who are capable of stepping up to the plate.

“Every position has competition, so anyone who works hard will get a chance to step up.”

Meanwhile, information doing the rounds is that Riveiro could count on Relebohile Mofokeng to fill the void left by Lorch.

PIRATES DEFENDER ON RECOVERY FROM INJURY, ON LORCH’S EXIT

The 23-year-old Pirates defender Monyane feels good as he comes from an injury and he’s raring to face Sundowns.

“I was looking good and then four minutes into the derby I sustained an ACL [knee ligament] injury,” adds the Pirates defender.

“To me, that was a major setback but just like any other setback, there’s a great comeback.

“So, that’s the past now.

“I am now looking forward to the World Cup qualifiers for the national team, and for the club.

“We are looking to at least get that second spot and get back to the Champions League.”
