Defender Austin Dube has no regrets joining Chiefs

Richards Bay defender Austin Dube says he has no regrets about joining Kaizer Chiefs where he was starved of regular game time.

Richards Bay defender Austin Dube says he doesn’t regret joining Kaizer Chiefs despite the struggles at the Soweto giants

The defender has since rejoined Richards Bay from Chiefs and Dube says he is looking forward to reviving his career with the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.

The dreadlocked defender, Dube instead praised Chiefs chairman, Kaizer Motaung, and revealed joining a big club has taught him valuable lessons.

DUBE HAS NO REGRETS JOINING CHIEFS

The central defender, Dube who was in action for the Natal Rich Boyz last weekend reserved special praise the for Chiefs’ hierarchy for being good to the players.

Having struggled for regular game time under coach Arthur Zwane in the previous term, the 30-year-old stated there is nothing personal but said the decision to bench was related to football.

“I am very strong mentally, professional, and understood the position I was in. It did not kill me, instead, I came back with lessons and I do not regret my time at Kaizer Chiefs” Dube told SABC Sport.

“The Motaung family is very supportive, they have humanity. They always give you hope and encouragement, especially during your difficulties. I will always be grateful to them.” 

DUBE ON OFFERS AND RETURNING TO KZN

While he was not told what was lacking in his game, Dube said he understood the lack of game time at Naturena had nothing to do with personal issues.

Ahead of the new DStv Premiership campaign, he said he is feeling happy back home and revealed there were offers from PSL clubs.

“I am very happy to be back home, home is where you find love after difficulties. Richards Bay has given me a warm welcome,” he added.

“I had offers from other clubs, but I chose Richards Bay FC, because of my love for them.

“They are better than the last time I was playing here. They have improved and I’m happy to be part of this team.”
