Could in-form striker be swayed to join Chiefs?

It remains to be seen whether Kaizer Chiefs could still be seen as the ideal destination for a young striker who has been linked to the club.

Chiefs are currently carefully considering their squad options for next season, with Thatayaone Ditlhokwe already confirmed as a new signing by the club, and the SuperSport United man will join Amakhosi at the end of the season.

It’s become an open secret that sought-after TS Galaxy star Given Msimango has also been snapped up by Chiefs on a blockbuster four-year deal.

BREAKING: Pirates to secure massive signing for next season

Increasingly, it’s become clear that Chiefs need to embark on an aggressive recruitment drive once again, and Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo is one player who has regularly been linked with the Soweto giants.

The 24-year-old has scored 11 goals across all competitions this season, and the word from the Chiefs camp has suggested that he is one of the players they have been keeping an eye on.

Interestingly, it’s now reported that his father could be keen for him to succeed at Chiefs before possibly exploring options overseas.

“We all see what Khanyisa is doing at the moment, he has a lot potential to become the best striker in the county,” a source told The Citizen. “There is no doubt about that, that’s why his father wants to see him playing at Chiefs. At a club like Chiefs, there is a lot of pressure as a player, so if you are able to overcome that, you can succeed anywhere in the world.

“That’s what his father wants, he wants to see him doing well at Chiefs, with no disrespect to Cape Town City, they are a great team with a lot of quality players.”

WHO ELSE WILL CHIEFS BE BRINGING TO NATURENA?

A host of other players have been linked to the club, and manager Bobby Motaung recently suggested announcements were imminent.

“We will make an announcement in the future. There are great things set to be revealed in future,” he stated, without wanting to give away much else.

Cape Town City midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane has apparently also agreed transfer terms in principle to join Chiefs, but City chairman John Comitis seemed to imply there were no deals done yet.
