Both teams were desperate for a full three points after rather sluggish starts to their respective 2021/22 DStv Premiership campaign.

At the final whistle the points were shared after a dramatic 1-1 draw.

AmaZulu took the lead two minutes after the half-time interval when Keagan Buchanan headed the ball into the path of Luvuyo Memela who found the back of the net from close range.

In injury time, Keagan Dolly equalised from the penalty spot with the very last kick of the game to salvage a draw for Kaizer Chiefs.

However, the decision by referee Jelly Chavani to award the visitors with a penalty for a ‘handball’ will come under scrutiny in the days to come.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter was facing AmaZulu for the seventh time – and thanks to the controversial penalty has still never lost to Usuthu (W6 D1).
