‘Confirmed’ Kaizer Chiefs get revenge on AmaZulu with latest signing!

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be on their way to making an eighth signing and defeating AmaZulu, to the player’s signature.

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be on their way to making an eighth signing and defeating AmaZulu, to the player’s signature.

Chiefs are believed to have offered midfielder Thabo Cele a three-year deal, but were believed to be facing stiff competition for his services from AmaZulu.

Just last week, this publication reported that both Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns could be on high alert as Cele could now be available on a free transfer. The midfielder’s contract at Radomiak has an option to extend for one more season and it was expected that the club would take it up, affecting both Amakhosi and Masandawana plans of signing the player. But now, according to the latest update, there is now every chance that the original plan could be back in motion.

Cele was recently home in South Africa, after representing Bafana Bafana in the COSAFA Cup, back in his home province of KZN. His return also proved to be of good effect, as he ended up winning the man of the match award. The KZN Academy graduate had a fantastic game in the middle of the park, although the hosts ended up having to come from behind in order to clinch the victory.

Seeing such performance might’ve had Chiefs fans reminiscing on what could’ve been, had their club been able to wrap up a deal for Cele two season ago. The player himself admitted to waiting for the club to sign him, but nothing materialised. From there, he ended up plying his trade abroad. The box-to-box star has also made no secret of his love for Amakhosi, growing up as a supporter of the club, so that deal would’ve meant a lot more to him. 

Cele joining Chiefs over AmaZulu confirmed?

Now it looks as if Cele’s dream is set to come true, with confirmation from Prince Sobayeni on Twitter. Sobayeni has been close with Cele for a number of years now, since monitoring the midfielders progress in Portugal. The two often have regular dialogue and it looks as if the player may have privately confirmed to him that he is joining Chiefs. The box-to-box star will be the second midfield signing for Amakhosi after Edson Castillo
