Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns may soon be snubbed by a top target!

It has previously been reported that Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns were chasing Sekhukhune United’s Elias Mokwana

Pirates looked to be the first team that was linked to signing Mokwana. The Buccaneers are credited for scouting the winger, even before he joined Sekhukhune. It is believed the player and his camp believed that move would’ve come too soon for the player at the time. It was not long until Sundowns joined the fray. The belief was that they were confident they could blow any team out of the water for the player. Chiefs were the latest side to come into the conversation.

Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns interested in Mokwana

Although Chiefs seem to have come later, they look to have come with an added advantage. This publication recently reported that Mokwana preferred to join Amakhosi over Pirates and Sundowns. That is because he grew up supporting the club and he believes he is guaranteed more game time at Naturena. The source of the story also conceded that the player has a soft spot for Pirates. Where Sundowns might have the practical edge, however, is on the financial side.

According to a report from KickOff.com Mokwana has set his sights on a move abroad, which his agent is working on. This could be a big blow for Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns.

Player looking to move overseas instead

“Look, we’re looking overseas. There has been a couple of calls from overseas, but locally we haven’t heard from anyone. Nothing concrete locally. We have not received offers, but it’s just enquiries from the people we’re working with, enquiring about the player that is currently doing well. Bafana Bafana was a boost for the player, he did very well. We have associates we’re working with (overseas) asking questions regarding the player, no offers as yet. There were applauses from people and congratulations from people, but with the offers it’s still early days. It was just our associates (overseas) asking about the player,” said Mokwana’s agent Pontsho Madumo.

It is thought that Mokwana’s price tag locally is R35 million. He would’ve done no harm to that price tag, after his goal and assist in two games for Bafana Bafana. It then becomes hard to predict where he will end up, as Chiefs have his heart, Pirates his brain and Sundowns the money.
