Chiefs forced to replace experienced star

Suspensions can be awkward. A Kaizer Chiefs player will sit in the stands or his TV room for tonight’s Nedbank Cup against Milford FC.

Kaizer Chiefs will be in action again this weekend, but not every player is always available for selection.

KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYER SIFISO HLANTI SUSPENDED

Amakhosi will be taking a break from league football to pursue cup glory. The battle will be a Nedbank Cup last 32 game. The Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) side Milford from KwaZulu Natal is the opposition.

According to an update from the Premier Soccer League referees, as confirmed by FARPost, Hlant has accumulated four yellow cards. This means that the 33-year-old left-back will miss this weekend’s game.

“Kaizer Chiefs will be without their first-choice left-back Sifiso Hlanti after the 34-year-old picked up four yellow cards,” Otis Ntshangase reported.

“The former Bafana Bafana defender was first cautioned in a match against Cape Town City FC in the MTN8. He then got three yellow cards in the DStv Premiership in matches against Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu FC and Royal AM,” the report added.

KHAMA BILLIAT JOINS YADAH FC

In other news, Chiefs’ ex-attacking midfielder Khama Billiat has moved on with his career.

The former Cape Town Spurs star left Chiefs in July 2023. He was seemingly set to join Cape Town City, but no offer was made.

Billiat later emerged in Tshwane last month. The 33-year-old started to train with SuperSport United, as reported by @SAFootClassics via X.

Sadly for Billiat, the plan was not a success as he stopped training with Matsatsanta a Pitori.

“Former Kaizer Chiefs forward Khama Billiat has stopped training with SuperSport United,” iDiski Times reported.

According to his former national team and Chiefs teammate, Katsande, Billiat’s latest move is positive for his career and the Zimbabwean Premier League.

“He is like Ronaldo moving from Europe to Asia. So he is going to boost every team in the League,” Katsande told FARPost‘s Ofhani Munyai.

“I am sure every player in the PSL [in Zimbabwe] can’t wait to start the season and there is a reason why they need to play well. There is a reason why they have to play against Yadah.

“The team he is going to, I know the owner is a very good friend of mine and I know him personally. So in terms of professionalism, he is in a good space where he just needs to focus on football,” the former Chiefs skipper added.

“It is a good decision for him to go there to revive his career, especially in this difficult moment.

“We know that he didn’t play for close to a year.

“So he needs space where he is going to be comfortable to try to come up again. He just needs a different environment whereby he kicks start again. He is a fragile boy, I know him very well so I think it was a good move for him.

“There is nothing wrong [with his move], look at Ronaldo. He went to Saudi Arabia and he is still scoring goals. We also need him to get out of retirement and help us qualify for the World Cup.”
