Mduduzi Mdantsane netted twice while Khanyisa Mayo, Craig Martin and Tashreeq Morris also found the back of the net for City.

This was after Dan Ndlovu had opened the scoring 10 minutes before the break – Baroka had already missed an early penalty.

As a result, City moved up to fourth on the log with 36 points from 21 games, and thus, moving above Orlando Pirates who are fifth on 35 points.

Baroka, on the other hand, are rooted at the bottom of DStv Premiership log with 17 points from 23 games played.

Cape Town City handed former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Darren Keet his debut, and he didn’t disappoint as he stopped a penalty early in the game.

Keet guessed the right way to deny Christopher Sithole what would have been Baroka’s opening goal in the third minute.

Baroka made amends in the 35th minute as Ndlovu beat Keet to fire the visitors ahead, much to the delight of Kgoloko Thobejane.

But the red card received by Tshepo Mokhabi of Baroka in the 45th minute somehow motivated City to do better in the second half.

And they did just that, scoring five unanswered goals in the second half with Mayo drawing City level in the 50th minute.

City were then awarded a penalty in the 55th minute, and Mdantsane stepped up to fire his side into the lead.

It was 3-1 to City four minutes later as Mdantsane completed his brace against his former club.

Mdantsane went from hero to villain as he was given his marching orders in the 62nd minute – and this meant City had lost their numerical advantage.

City were not to be deterred by Mdantsane’s sending off as Martin made it 4-1 in the 88th minute before Morris converted a spot-kick to make it 5-1 deep into stoppage time.
