Orlando Pirates fan favourite Vincent Pule has left the club after six years with the Buccaneers.

The 32-year-old winger was rarely used last season playing just over 10 matches for the Soweto Giants. On Tuesday afternoon, Pirates announced that they had parted ways with the former Bidvest Wits star.

“After six wonderful years, Vincent Pule is leaving Orlando Pirates Football Club. The 32-year-old came here in 2018 from Bidvest Wits and immediately made an impact for the Mighty Buccaneers,” the club said in a statement.

“During his time with the club, Vincent went on to record over 140 matches, including 35 goal contributions (goals and assists combined), to cement his legacy for the Soweto Giants.

On behalf of the entire Orlando Pirates family, we would like to thank Vincent for everything he has done for this football club. A phenomenal player, who gave us incredible moments in the field of play while also displaying qualities of a model professional off it.

During his time at Orlando Pirates, Pule was a fan favourite. His game time was however reduced since Jose Riveiro took over and was linked to a move away from the club last year before penning a new one-year contract. In January, the winger was linked with a move to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

“His move out of Pirates is good as done. He could have left in January or even before but there were other reasons why the move stopped. Sundowns and SuperSport were some of the teams that were interested in him,” a source told Soccer Laduma.
