MAHLATSE MAKUDUBELA MOVING TO AZAM?

You can tell it’s fully transfers times. Former Orlando Pirates winger Mahlatse Makudubela looks set to leave Young Africans in Tanzania.

The 34-year-old from VosloorusGauteng left South African in July 2023 to joing East African giants Yanga. Despite earning affection from the crowds, the former Orlando Pirates star did not command a starting place under coach Nasreddine Nabi and later Miguel Gamoundi.

According to the latest report, Makudubela has attracted interest from fellow Tanzania Premier League side Azam.

“The 34-year-old ex-Platinum Stars star is currently clubless after his Tanzanian side Young Africans (Yanga) decided against renewing his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the month,” the Citizen reported.

“Now news coming out of Tanzania is that Yanga rivals Azam FC are keen to add him to their arsenal. But Yanga are facing competition from APR FC, who have just appointed Serbian Darko Novic as their new coach,” the report added on the Buccaneer winger.

ORLANDO PIRATES STAR PATRICK MASWANGANYI WINS THREE AWARDS

Orlando Pirates‘ Patrick Maswanganyi had the biggest pay day of his career on Sunday. He made R400 000 in one night at the 2024 Premier Soccer League Awards, thanks to his 10 goals and 12 assists in 40 matches.

As revealed by the PSL on Sunday night, the 25-year-old attacking midfielder walked away with three major awards:

  • Players’ Player of the Season – R200 000
  • Midfielder of the Season – R50 000.
  • Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament – R150 000.

Meanwhile, the Sea Robbers are preparing to fly to Spain for pre-season to take on the likes of Sevilla in July.

“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce the club’s Preseason schedule for 2024. The Mighty Buccaneers will be returning to Europe for a three-match tour in Spain,” the club confirmed.

“Jose Riveiro’s men will begin their preseason campaign against English Championship side Plymouth Argyle on July 12, before heading to Seville on July 15 to take on La Liga outfit Sevilla.

“Then to round up the tour, the back-to-back MTN8 and Nedbank Cup champs will lock horns with Qatar Stars League outfit Al Sadd SC on July 19,” Orlando Pirates concluded.
