Bobby doesn’t understand ‘new culture’ at Chiefs of changing coaches

“It’s a new culture and we don’t understand. It requires patience, understanding and managing,” Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung.

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung says the club has never believed in chopping ad changing coaches.

Lately, Amakhosi have been changing coaches every season hoping to end their trophy drought.

Last month, Chiefs parted ways with Molefi Ntseki, just after four months in charge.

Speaking at Montecasino on the night his father Kaizer Motaung was inducted into the South African Hall of Fame, Bobby said supporters needed to be patient.

“It has never been in our culture to chop and change coaches, even in a season or two or three. We’ve always given coaches a chance to implement the vision and the plan.

“I don’t know where the culture comes from of our supporters trying to, you knowzabalaza at the stadium,” Motaung was quoted on TimesLive.

Towards the end of last season, former Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane was thrown with objects by angry supporters, who demanded him to resign. The club was forced to sack Zwane and bring in Ntseki.

The former Bafana Bafana coach was also attacked, barely a month since he started coaching

“It’s a new culture and we don’t understand. It requires patience, understanding and managing. Understanding their questions, their passion, their emotions and what they are going through

“The game has changed today. There is betting, there’s all these things. People are emotional. The economy is bad. They depend on certain things. They come to the stadium with hopes to enjoy and find hope to go home happy.

“Unfortunately, it puts pressure on the players and everybody. It is how we are going to manage it and go forward with it. It takes our leadership and our character to manage the process,” said Motaung.

Chiefs are currently on the market looking for a new coach.
