BIG twist in Thabo Cele’s Kaizer Chiefs transfer as club changes their mind! 

Kaizer Chiefs are expected to announce Colombian striker Efmamjjasond Gonzalez as their eighth signing but that was expected to be Thabo Cele.

Chiefs are believed to have offered midfielder Cele a three-year deal, but were believed to be facing stiff competition for his services from AmaZulu.

Just three weeks ago, this publication reported that both Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns could be on high alert as Cele could now be available on a free transfer. The midfielder’s contract at Radomiak has an option to extend for one more season and it was expected that the club would take it up, affecting both Amakhosi and Masandawana plans of signing the player. But now, according to the latest update, there is now every chance that the original plan could be back in motion.

Seeing such performance might’ve had Chiefs fans reminiscing on what could’ve been, had their club been able to wrap up a deal for Cele two season ago. The player himself admitted to waiting for the club to sign him, but nothing materialised. From there, he ended up plying his trade abroad. The box-to-box star has also made no secret of his love for Amakhosi, growing up as a supporter of the club, so that deal would’ve meant a lot more to him.

It was believed that Cele’s Chiefs dream was close to being completed, but there has been such a huge delay since those rumours of an imminent deal. Now it seems like that has come as a cause for concern. Initially it was thought that Amakhosi would finally get their man on a free transfer, with Radomiak reportedly ready to let the player go on a free transfer. 

Radomiak now set to demand a fee from Chiefs for Cele?

But now, according to KickOff.com Radomiak have changed their minds are willing to exercise their one-year option on Cele’s contract, so that Chiefs or any interested player would pay a transfer fee for his services. That would then put a spanner of the works of a possible deal with Amakhosi not known to be keen to dish out a transfer fee.
