Is the Mzansi legend facing an uncertain future? A source that is close to Benni McCarthy believes the South African is leaving Old Trafford in June.

The Hanover Park-born legend joined United on 30 July 2022 as the club’s striker’s coach.

According to the local media veteran Peter du Toit, who works closely with McCarthy’s agent, Rob Moore, on the ThisIsFootballAfrica YouTube Channel, Benni’s contract will not be refreshed when it ends in June.

The report also claims that United’s current manager, Erik Ten Hag, will leave at the season’s end.

“l know Benni’s contract at Man U ends in June & that Ten Hag won’t be at MU by then,” Du Toit said via X.

“So, believe me, Benni will leave. SA football needs Benni & SA also needs Hugo Broos now & for the long term. Make Broos TD & Benni & Helman heading the coaching. That could secure Bafana’s future,” Du Toit concluded.

According to a former AmaZulu player, Butholezwe Ncube, Benni McCarthy is needed at Bafana.

“I read that he dreams of coaching clubs in Europe. But having worked closely with him, I think he makes the right candidate for the national team [Bafana Bafana].

“It starts with what he achieved while he was wearing the Bafana Bafana jersey. He is an example of the demands and what is expected,” the former AmaZulu star added.

“I worked with him, and as a foreigner [Zimbabwean], he was so welcoming and under his guidance, I started scoring goals as a defensive midfielder.

“Right now, it’s easy for me to score despite being often forced to push back to cover the defensive.

“Moreso, Benni is an exceptional profiler, if not the best in South Africa. Personally, I think that makes him perfect for the national.

“It’s different from the club where one is expected to give instant results. Unlike the clubs, more patience could be needed because you deal with players coming from different leagues and different kinds of play.

“For me, that makes his job easy, and it is also the reason why he is the perfect candidate. Considering his patience, you can be rest assured that he will give all those that deserve a chance,” Ncube concluded on Benni McCarthy.
