Believe it or not, Kaizer Chiefs haven’t scored a goal since December

Amakhosi fans are sick and tired of what they’re seeing in front of goal.

The goal and trophy drought continues at Kaizer Chiefs. What’s next?

GOALS CONTINUE TO BE THE PROBLEM AT NATURENA

In 17 league matches this term, Chiefs have scored 16 goals. You don’t need a maths degree to deduce that a side scoring less than a goal per game has serious issues. This is not a new problem though. In 2022-23, the Glamour Boys notched up just 32 league goals in 30 matches. It’s a miserly average for a team of this stature. Goals are an important currency in our beautiful game, and Chiefs are looking pretty poor on that score.

Drought goes back to 2023

Yes, there was a long Afcon break but the last time Chiefs bulged the net was against Sekhukhune on December 30 2023. Ranga Chivaviro’s equalizer in that match feels like a lifetime ago. Since then, Amakhosi have drawn blanks against Royal AM in the league and, embarrassingly, against Milford in their penalty shootout defeat in the Nedbank Cup. The Motsepe Foundation Championship side was also reduced to 10 men as early as the 11th minute.
