Recently, Sundowns were rumoured to be involved in a race with Orlando Pirates to try to secure the services of Congolese striker Andy Boyeli. Boyeli is a striker who currently plies his trade in the Zambian league for Power Dynamos. It was further reported, however, that the Buccaneers had been advancing in that deal, and the Brazilians would be looking at other options. Soon after, they were reported to have offered Bafana Bafana striker Lars Veldwijk a contract.

Sundowns offer Veldwijk short-term deal?

“The team (Sundowns) has offered the striker a short term deal but the players (Veldwijk) side wants at least a two-year deal. They are looking at his age and to secure his future at least to be safe. So the talks haven’t yet concluded because they are looking at the length of the contract,” said one source to the publication.

“The club is thinking of six months and that’s what they have offered him but at the moment they haven’t finalised everything yet. For now it could be for six months or so but at the end of the season they are set to look at the deal again depending on how the striker could have performed during the initial deal. And that’s why now they are looking at the length of the contract and it’s what is delaying the conclusion of the talks but it’s about to happen,” said the source.
