Chiefs and AmaZulu have not had the best of relations when it comes to transfer dealings, with the problems stemming from the Siyethemba Sithebe saga.

Chiefs and AmaZulu were at loggerheads

Two years ago on this very month, it was reported that Chiefs had sealed a pre-contract deal to sign Sithebe from AmaZulu. The problem then arose when Usuthu claimed that Amakhosi dealt with the situation in a underhand manner. They claimed that they signed the dreadlocked midfielder without sending a letter of notice to the team. The player was them relegated to the reserves for the entire second half of the season as the Glamour Boys failed in their attempt to sign him that January.

Now in what could be a similar situation, it has been reported that Chiefs are interested in signing Siphesihle Maduna. Ironically, he has also been sidelined by AmaZulu, who’s coach Pablo Martin has not had in his plans since his arrival. Late last year it was claimed that Amakhosi had already notched up a pre-agreement with the player and could even engage in a player swap deal which could see their young striker Wandile Duba going the other way for a six-month loan spell. Now beyond that, another shocking development is thought to be on the cards.

Sithebe heading back to Usuthu?

According to Soccer-Laduma, AmaZulu are interested in re-signing Sithebe back from Chiefs after the player has found himself completely out of favour at the club this season.

“Indications are that his (Sithebe) former club Usuthu have already made enquiries about the possibilities of bringing him back to KwaZulu-Natal. AmaZulu seem to believe that familiar surroundings could perhaps rekindle spark and light the fire under the belly of Sithebe in the famous green and white jersey” wrote the publication.

New swap deal proposal on the cards?

With the Duba rumours going quiet, it could present the possibility for Sithebe’s name to be thrown in, in a potential swap deal or maybe even a straight deal involving both Chiefs and AmaZulu this month.
