AmaZulu defender urges PSL sides to stop Sundowns

AmaZulu defender Thembea Sikhakhane vows they are ready to stop Mamelodi Sundowns and urges PSL sides to also fight harder.

Mamelodi Sundowns‘ dominance will eventually come to an end and that is the vow made by AmaZulu defender Thembela Sikhakhane, he also urges PSL sides to do better.

Sikhakhane says there is nothing done special by Sundowns players but it’s just that they work hard, have hunger but can be beatable.

The AmaZulu defender also urges all the other PSL sides to pull up their socks and ensure they end Sundowns’ dominance in the domestic scene.

Rulani Mokwena’s men are yet to lose in the DStv Premiership this term and have maintained a 100% win record out of their nine matches.

The Ulundi-born Usuthu defender, Sikhakhane also adds that it’s not that Masandawana plays with extra players but it’s just hard work.

Per SABC, Sikhakhane was addressing the media ahead of their Carling Knockout Cup clash against TS Galaxy at Moses Mabhida on Sunday.

“There’s no team that can’t be defeated, we will defeat them at some point,” said Sikhakhane.

“I think we have to pull up our socks as other teams in the DStv Premiership.

“It’s not like Sundowns plays with more than 11 players on the field.

“I think they just give it their all, more than us. I’m not saying we are not working hard enough or we don’t have quality players, they have quality players, we have quality players.

“We are men just like them and we all have two feet.”

PSL SIDES MUST CHANGE MINDSET TO STOP SUNDOWNS

The 30-year-old former Orlando Pirates full-back is also looking at the mentality of other PSL clubs who are ‘scared’ to challenge the reigning league champions.

“I think we need to change our mentality and not think that because Sundowns players are rich and well-paid, they will always win the league. As small teams we need to change our mentality,” adds Sikhakhane.

“Look at the English Premier League clubs from Aston Villa to Newcastle United and Brighton, they are not intimidated by who they are playing against.

“We can also change that by not being too intimidated by Sundowns on the field.”

Coached by Pablo Franco Martin, the Moses Mabhida-based side will face Sundowns in the league on Wednesday, December 06.
