Itumeleng Khune has enjoyed a stellar career with Kaizer Chiefs but it’s coming to an end soon, according to reports.

ITUMELENG KHUNE ON HIS WAY OUT OF KAIZER CHIEFS

36-year-old goalkeeper Itu Khune’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign. The club doesn’t plan to renew his terms now with the player suspended after arriving at training under the influence of alcohol. Sekhukhune have emerged as surprise suitors for the legendary player’s signature. His agent, Thato Matuka, insists that no club has acquired about Khune’s services.

“The engagements with the club about Itu’s future are ongoing. It’s a process, not overnight discussion,” Matuka told Far Post.

“There hasn’t been any offer or talks with any club.”

Khune has reportedly played his last game for the club. He was promoted from the Chiefs development structures in 2004 and made a senior PSL debut for the club in 2007 against Jomo Cosmos. All told, Khune has made 345 appearances for the club and amassed an impressive 151 clean sheets. He has been usurped by Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen, both of whom have recently signed new deals with the club.

MALEFO IS PROLIFIC AT THE YOUTH LEVEL

At the other end of the pitch, Amakhosi have snapped up a goal-getter from Tika Taka Sports Academy by the name of Kamogelo Malefo. Chiefs’ newest youth recruit bagged 16 goals and supplied 18 assists in 18 games last season. The 18-year-old will join the club’s U19 structures.
