African giants enter the chat for primary Kaizer Chiefs target

Kaizer Chiefs will have to fight tooth and nail for their primary transfer target Khanyisa Mayo, with Yanga SC reportedly “obsessed” with the Cape Town City attacker.

Khanyisa Mayo is a wanted man
Kaizer Chiefs are rumoured to be targeting Cape Town City attacker Khanyisa Mayo but they’re not the only ones. Chiefs have been busy in the market already, recruiting Thatayaone Ditlhokwe from SuperSport United, while deals for Given Msimango and Mayo’s City teammate Mduduzi Mdantsane aren’t far off.
24-year-old Mayo is next on the agenda, and his age profile aligns neatly with the club’s new philosophy of signing players just before their prime years. Mayo will win this season’s Golden Boot should he find the net against Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend. He currently leads the way alongside Peter Shalulile with 12 goals, but Sundowns have now played all of their matches.
According to a source speaking to Soccer-Laduma, Tanzanian giants Yanga SC want to rival both Chiefs and Sundowns for Mayo’s services.

Yanga sounding bullish
“Actually the president of Yanga has made it clear that he wants Mayo. He has seen him play and he believes he is a great striker and young, which is good for the future and continuity of the team. He has been speaking about the boy and he will make sure he gets him” said the source.
Yanga president Hersi Ally isn’t hiding his admiration for Mayo either.

“It’s not a secret, he is a very good striker. We like him. We want him. But as of now, there is nothing official from us to his team yet, but it’s true we are looking into that” said Ally.
