According to the Sun, the English Premier League star – who cannot be named – was recently placed under caution at a police station and questioned after a third alleged victim reported that she was sexually assaulted.

The star footballer, who apparently travelled with his international side to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, was allegedly already facing accusations of raping two two women in separate attacks in recent years.

The player was previously held last July after police were said to have visited his home in north London, while it’s reported that he recently spent hours being questioned by police following the new allegation.

After his initial arrest last year, Scotland Yard told The Sun: “On 4 July 2022, an allegation of rape of a woman in her 20s was reported to police. It was reported the alleged rape happened in June 2022. On 4 July, a man was arrested at an address on suspicion of rape and taken into custody.

“While in custody, he was further arrested on suspicion of two incidents of rape that were alleged to have been committed in April and June of 2021 against a different woman in her 20s.

“In February 2023, the man was interviewed under caution for a sexual offence alleged to have taken place in Barnet in February 2022. This relates to a third victim and was reported to police in July 2022.

“No further action will be taken in relation to the alleged offence in June 2021 because the relevant legislation had not yet come into effect at the time it is said to have occurred.”

The Premier League is already dealing with another contentious situation

As has been widely reported earlier this year, the career prospects of Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood remain under a dark cloud even in the wake of attempted rape and assault charges being dropped after more than a year under investigation.

There is still no clarity over whether he will ever be welcomed back to United, with the club conducting “its own process before determining next steps”.

In an update reported on by The Daily Star, the Manchester United internal probe will apparently could go on for several more months, and it’s clear that there is no chance Greenwood will be considered for selection this season.

He remains contracted to United until the middle of 2025, but has not played for the Red Devils since January 22 last year. It’s expected that the club is still looking to ascertain his version of events, and will also get specialists in to assess his mental and physical state.

THERE ARE REPORTS THAT SOME OVERSEAS CLUBS HAVE ENQUIRED ABOUT THE 21-YEAR-OLD

According to an updated article by The Athletic, several options are on the table, ranging from terminating his contract to a possible phased reintroduction of Greenwood to the first team squad.

If he were to remain at the club, United would apparently look to take into account the views of fan groups, sponsors and the United women’s team at varying stages.

The Premier League powerhouse club would also reportedly want Greenwood to take part in rehabilitation, which would involve counselling or therapy. Quite strangely, this may even include facing a TV interview “in which he is challenged on the events that have taken him to this point”.
