There has long been speculation linking Mosimane to Chiefs, at different times in his career, with rumours returning recently. Just last week, reports went as far as claiming the former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor had rejected a deal from Amakhosi. Those links seemed to hit very close to home as they even prompted an official response from the Soweto giants.

Chiefs put out an official statement on all of their social media platforms, confirming the media reports were fake. Mosimane also didn’t help matters, as he claimed that he could possibly end the Glamour Boys’ nine-year trophy drought. It does not seem like it will happen any time soon, however, with the mentor set for a move elsewhere.

According to reports, Mosimane will indeed join Saudi Arabian Pro League side Abha Club. Late last year, media outlets from the country claimed “Jingles” had already agreed on terms with the club. It was then a big surprise when it emerged from South African media that Chiefs had made him an offer. Now, more reports have emerged in the Saudi saying the move will be finalised this week!

Should that prove to be true, Mosimane will relinquish his current duties as a SuperSport TV analyst for AFCON games. He would also arrive with his work cut out for him, as Abha are currently embroiled in a relegation scrap. This move, however, will finally give the former Al Ahli coach a chance to coach in the Gulf country’s top flight.

Mosimane had helped promote the Saudi giants before being promptly removed from his post. Should he help save Abha, it would only further enhance his already burgeoning reputation.
