Mosimane reveals how he comforted tearful Al Ahly player

The man-management skills of Pitso Mosimane were once again on show as he took time to comfort one of his players crying on the bench.

Al Ahly will go into a clash against Pyramids FC in a top-of-the-table Egyptian Premier League battle on Tuesday, 8 March, with Mosimane’s team coming off the back of two recent victories, against Pharco and Al-Merrikh, in the CAF Champions League.

After Tuesday’s game, Al Ahly will travel to South Africa to meet Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League in what will be a ‘homecoming’ of sorts for Mosimane.

Some reports have suggested Mosimane is set to extend his Al Ahly contract before making the trip to South Africa, and a recent interaction between him and one of his players revealed once again why he is so highly regarded as a coach, with the experienced manager revealing what he said to Hossam Hassan, who was seen in tears on the Al Ahly bench.

“I spoke to him because I didn’t understand what’s happening then I saw things going on and he was crying. I spoke to him and he understands and he says I’m crying because I just don’t have the opportunity,” Mosimane said, as quoted by iDiski Times

“I said ‘yes, I want to give you the opportunity but [Mohamed] Sherif scored two goals tonight’. I mean really – even Percy Tau is outside, Luis [Miquissone] scored two goals, you must ask me why I don’t play Luis.

“Maybe when he cried you will look at it differently. But we love Hossam Hassan, he’s a good player, top player, he’s going to help us.

“Let’s build him, let’s build him. Because sometimes you put him in, he doesn’t score and then maybe you will say ah that’s why they didn’t play him.

“Give him a chance, he’s important, we need him, we have too many games, I expect him, he understands and tonight he did not cry.”
