Pitso Mosimane to dine out on Al Ahli after FIFA judgement

Pitso Mosimane is set to receive a R24 million payout over the unfair termination of his Al Ahli contract on top of unpaid salaries.

Pitso Mosimane will be well compensated for the early termination of his Al Ahli Jeddah contract.

Mosimane took on the club after the dismissal, taking the case to FIFA foir arbitration.

Mosimane said upon his exit from the club that he had not received a salary from the club for five months, from January to June.

The coach also claimed that the club had breached their contractual responsibilities to retain his services after he successfully won them promotion to the Saudi Pro Division.

FIFA order Al Ahli to pay Pitso Mosimane R24 million

According to FIFA, Mosimane will be paid approximately ±R24 million, broken down into the following amounts:

$355 500 (±R6 876 720,90)

$8218, 80 (±R158 967)

$3394 (±R65 652,86)

$786000 (±R15.2 million)

The intent

Mosimane had intended to be at the club for at least two years, as he revealed in an interview.

“MT Sports received numerous offers from clubs and national teams from around the world for our services. We decided to take a project that is interesting and very challenging. A project that will see us turn a football team into champions,” said Mosimane.

“We have a mandate of two years of turning this team around.

“And we’ve been tasked [by] this big club to take them back to the Pro League, which is the the Premier League in Saudi.

“That’s our mandate in the first year of course.

“It is a big and challenging task for us to be honest but we are ready and we are excited to be going to Saudi Arabia.

“We need to be aware that Al-Ahli is amongst the top four teams in the kingdom of Saudi. It is a big club. It has a long history of winning titles. It has a track record to be able to achieve the best results and awake the sleeping giant. 

“Changing the game for good is my personal motto, and [it] will carry me to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

On 26 January 2024, Mosimane joined Saudi Arabia club Abha on a four-mouth contract.
