Pitso insists Safa should have been patient with him at Bafana

Former Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane said the country was not patient with him during his two year tenure with the national team.

Al Wahda head coach Pitso Mosimane insists he should have been given enough time at Bafana Bafana.

The 59-year-old coached the South African national soccer team from 2010-12.

He was fired from his position after he failed to guide the team to the 2012 African Cup of Nations.

Since he was sacked by the South African Football Association (Safa), Mosimane went on to become on of Africa’s most successful active coaches.

He(Mosimane) has lifted 19 trophies at club level between SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly and Alhli.

Pitso talks about his teams being impatient and firing coaches.

This week, Jingles said the country was impatient with him.

“My country was a little bit impatient with me,” he said during an interview on AD Sports TV.

“In fact my country is impatient with everyone. It’s the first time we have a coach for two years now.

“Because it’s also impatience, they don’t wait, they want instant results but we forget about developing the right players.

“They kept changing the coaches, they were not patient, they were not patient with me. So it’s the story of Jurgen Klopp, the story of Pep Guardiola,” said the former Bafana coach.

Mosimane said teams had to be patient with coaches.

“Quick fixes will never happen, you’ll keep changing coaches. You need to be patient and know what you want,” added Jingles.

Bafana take on Eswatini on Friday evening at FNB at 18:00.
