Al Ahly completed a dominant 3-0 win over Ittihad of Alexandria in the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday.

The Red Devils were on a poor run of form after dropping points against Pharco FC in a disappointing 0-0 draw on Wednesday.

Club president Mahmoud El-Khatib had revealed that Al Ahly will play their remaining league games with youth players as senior players are rested for the new season.

As a result, coach Ricardo Soares left out club captain Mohamed El-Shenawy as well as Ayman Ashraf, Yasser Ibrahim, Ali Maaloul, Hamdy Fathi, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, and Walid Soliman.

Percy Tau started on the bench, but was called upon in the 65th minute with Al Ahly already three goals to the good.

Tau was yellow carded deep into extra time.

Al Ahly have only 6 matches remaining

The win saw Al Ahly stay in third place in the standings, but close the gap to Zamalek at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table to 10 points with a game in hand.

Al Ahly are three points behind second-place Pyramids, also having played one match fewer.

The Red Devils, who have six matches remaining this season, will next be in action at home to 11th-placed Al Masry on Wednesday, 10 August.

Kick-off is at 19:30 (SA time).
