Tau has been advised to seek psychological help due to a number of factors.

Tau has had to contend with several injury issues in recent seasons. Way more than he ever had when he played in the PSL. Therefore, former Bafana Bafana team doctor and SAFA chief medical doctor Thulani Ngwenya.
“I am not sure what’s Tau’s status because I am no longer a team doctor for Bafana. But there could be a number of factors. Psychologically there could be an issue but I am not sure. It could be an adaptation problem as well because when you change an environment, the training methods change and the conditioning thereof becomes different,” Ngwenya stated on the Sowetan.

Ngwenya has paid close attention to Tau. Raising concerns around his mental wellbeing, over and above, his recurring injuries.
“I really can’t be sure about Percy but these are the factors that usually lead to players getting injured now and then. If there are things that are psychologically affecting you, you’re bound to sustain injuries. That’s why sports psychologists are important. I know that Percy has been quite under pressure in Egypt from the team, from the supporters and the media and Al Ahly legends as well. So it could be a physiological thing but we can’t be be sure,” Ngwenya added.

Tau has had to face tremendous pressure and strain for several months from Al Ahly legends and the Egyptian media. There have been calls for him to be axed and to leave Al Ahly, especially since Pitso Mosimane left the club.
Many legends believe he was the only reason Tau stayed at the club due to several below-par performances.

However, what many haven not considered is the several injury issues Tau has had to face. He has not had a chance to ease back into the side with little to no patience shown by fans in Egypt.
