Orlando Pirates utility man Deon Hotto was the hero as Namibia picked up a historic AFCON win against Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles.

Namibia bagged a historic win against Tunisia in the opening match of AFCON Group E. Orlando Pirates utility man Deon Hotto was the only scorer.

Both goalkeepers were busy on a momentous evening as Namibia picked up their first-ever win at an AFCON tournament. Chippa ‘keeper Lloyd Kazapua had plenty of work to do between the sticks for Namibia as he made several saves to keep his side in the match. That being said, Namibia showed plenty of menace on the counter-attack through Sundowns striker Peter Shalulike and Buccaneers man Hotto. At the 10th time of asking, and in their fourth AFCON participation, Namibia finally have a triumph in this competition thanks to Deon Hotto’s 88th-minute close-range header.
