No salary & no clearance for ex-Pirates fan darling

Xola Mlambo is one of the former Orlando Pirates fan darlings but he reveals he has no salary and clearance after he was dumped by TS Galaxy.

Mlambo last kicked a ball in a competitive match when he turned out for the Rockets towards the end of the previous season.

The former AmaZulu and Jomo Cosmos star remains clubless and could be heading for retirement considering his age, the ex-Pirates darling is 32.

In an interview with Robert Marawa on 947, Mlambo reveals that he was told by TS Galaxy team manager that the coach didn’t want him in his team.

Nicknamed ‘MaTen-Ten’, Mlambo made his name for Pirates under coach Milutin Sredojevic and Rulani Mokwena but he finds himself with no salary.

The South African understands that the 32-year-old’s life is a dire situation that might be coming to an end soon, paving the way for new opportunities – but will he retire?

“We were going to play a home game in Mpumalanga, so we had a training session…so my name wasn’t on the list…,” said Mlambo.

“As per usual, you don’t question when you are taken out of the team, chances are maybe you did not perform well enough to be selected…

“Then I received a message from the team manager saying that the coach says I mustn’t come back to join the team.”

Moreover, the talented and well-travelled ex-Pirates fan darling adds that he was given a separate programme and began training alone until the season ended.

He reveals life was challenging under Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic and he never reached an agreement with the club owned by Tim Sukazi.

“I am seemingly as it is without a team, [and] without a clearance on my hand, sadly,” he adds.

“But because I am not part of them and I am not being paid by them, nothing has been happening.

“It was a negotiation between the two parties as to how they wanted to terminate the contract, but we did not reach an agreement…

“It is painful, this is a difficult situation, being denied an opportunity to be doing what you love, something that you have been doing for almost your entire life, it’s saddening.”
