Neville calls on EPL to prevent players from joining Saudi League

Former Man United defender Gary Neville says players moving to Saudi in numbers could put the intergrity of the Premier League at risk.

Gary Neville has called on the Premier League to prevent players from transferring to the Saudi Pro League.

Top player such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante have already joined the Saudi Pro League and Wolves captain Ruben Neves, Chelsea’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Hakim Ziyech are amonst the players set to join the league in the summer.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has called on the Premier League to stop the transfer of players to the Saudi league until it is certain the integrity of its competition is not being put at risk.

“The Premier League should put an instant embargo on transfers to Saudi Arabia to ensure the integrity of the game isn’t being damaged. Checks should be made on the appropriateness of the transactions, Neville told BBC Sport

“If it comes through that process, obviously transfers could open up again. But I do believe, at this moment in time, transfers should be halted until you look into the ownership structure at Chelsea and whether there are beneficial transfer dealings that are improper,” Neville added.

Many top European players are tempted to move to the Saudu Arabian Pro League and earn big money which comes with the reward of rubbing shoulders with Ronaldo.
