The international break is over, and the chase for silverware resumes in domestic circles as the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals take centre stage, with the first fixture kicking off on Wednesday night.

With eight teams remaining six of those are in the top flight, setting up some mouth-watering clashes.

The only two lower division outfits Cape Umoya United – formerly known as Platinum Stars – and TS Galaxy – have been paired against one another, and they raise the curtain as they square off on Wednesday night.

That clash is followed by relative calm on Thursday and Friday before the action resumes once more on Saturday with two fixtures on the day.

The first of those is the afternoon clash between Bloemfontein Celtic and Lamontville Golden Arrows, which takes place at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium, with kick off at 15:00.

This is followed by a late evening encounter between one of the favourites to hoist the trophy up, Bidvest Wits hosting the tournament’s surprise package Chippa United, who have put aside their league struggles to enjoy an impressive cup run.

The pick of the Nedbank Cup quarterfinal action is undoubtedly the last, as Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City renew rivalries on Sunday, with the match taking place at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

The two sides have registered a win apiece in their two clashes in league action this season, and will both be looking to claim another victory with the stakes at their highest this time around.
