Mudau: Mamelodi Sundowns hand speedy defender long-term deal

After a stellar campaign, Mamelodi Sundowns have decided to hand defender Khuliso Mudau with a long-term deal.

Mamelodi Sundowns have signalled their intentions ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season by tying down defender Khuliso Mudau on a long-term deal.

Information reaching The South African indicates that Mudau has signed a new contract that will see him staying at Chloorkop for the next four years.

While his handler, Steve Kapeluschnik could not divulge all the details surrounding his client, it has been established that the former Black Leopards has signed a new four-year deal.


The speedy defender, Mudau who specialises with runs and well-timed tackles down the right flank has been a vital cog for coach Rulani Mokwena at Sundowns in the previous term.

Having made his switch from Lidoda Duvha to Sundowns three years ago, Mudau has been a solid performer for the DStv Premiership champions.

His efforts in Sundowns colours saw him rewarded with the DStv Premiership Defender of the Season Award but he remains a notable absentee in the latest Bafana Bafana squad.

“Mamelodi Sundowns have rewarded defender Khuliso Mudau with a new four-year contract, SABC Sport can confirm,” reports SABC Sport.

“SABC Sport now understands the club have made the big call to offer him new terms to keep him at Chloorkop at least for the next four years.”


The veteran player manager, Kapeluschnik refused to reveal the specifics of Mudau’s new bumper deal, preferring to refer enquiries to the club.

He said Mudau is a happy man at Chloorkop and that he is ready to fight harder in the upcoming as they look to defend their league title.

 “I can’t speak about the specifics of any player’s contract. You need to speak to the club about that,” said Kapelushnick. 

“But what I can say is that Khuliso has had a wonderful season at Sundowns – winning the Defender of the Season, the league title in record time, as well as a great run in the Champions League. He is motivated and is looking forward to the new campaign.”

Looking at Mudau’s contribution to the Capital City, he made an impressive 39 appearances in all competitions and found the back of the net on two occasions.

He helped Sundowns reach the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League and managed to chip in with a single assist in the previous term.
