Mosa Lebusa banking on mental strength against AmaZulu

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa reveals their targets ahead of the trip to AmaZulu in the DStv Premiership.

Heading to their 28th match of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season on Wednesday, Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mosa Lebusa revealed that their aim is to continue breaking records.

Masandawana are on the road to AmaZulu on Wednesday night and the former Ajax Cape Town central defender says their primary mission is to win more games.

He added that they also targeted collecting as many points as they can but admits visiting Usuthu will not be a walk in the park.

MOSA LEBUSA EXPECTS AMAZULU TO MAKE THINGS TOUGH FOR SUNDOWNS

The experienced versatile defender has looked at the Durban-based club’s recent win over Sekhukhune United, saying the hosts will put in a brave fight.As they have already claimed this season’s league title, the Brazilians will look to get closer to the 71 points record that was achieved by ex-coach Pitso Mosimane.

‘Jingles’ accomplished this feat back in the 2015/16 campaign and coach Rulani Mokwena’s men are closer – they are currently on 65 from 27 matches.

“It is going to be a tough one. They are fighting for their lives because results have not been coming their way. But they managed a win in their last match against Sekhukhune United and they are not going to make it easy for us,” said Lebusa according to TimesLIVE.

“When we analyse a team at Sundowns, we don’t focus on individuals but the whole team. They have individuals who have been in good form.

“They are dangerous as a team and we have to pay attention to certain areas to make sure we reduce their chances of getting goals.”

MOSA LEBUSA BANKS ON SUNDOWNS’ MENTAL STRENGTH

With the season set to be wrapped up in the next few weeks, the Free State-born defender and his teammates remain focused on the job at hand.

He said the mental side of things remains the same since the beginning of the league. However, he admitted it has not been an easy journey.

“We had the goal of reaching a certain number of goals and the only way we can do that is to continue winning games,” he added.

“It hasn’t been easy. It has been a rollercoaster, but we try to win every game and there is no difference with this one. We will work hard as always. The mental side is there as always because you can never relax.

“Especially at this time of the season, we have to keep our morale high and made sure every game we play we try to get maximum points.”

The encounter against Ayanda Dlamini’s side will be staged at Princess Magogo Stadium at 19:30 (CAT).
