Mdu’s Mooki comparison ‘unfortunate’ – Zwane

Mduduzi Shabalala has drawn comparisons to Kaizer Chiefs legend Thabo Mooki and Arthur Zwane has spoken out.

Mduduzi Shabalala has drawn comparisons to Kaizer Chiefs legend Thabo Mooki and Arthur Zwane has spoken out.

Zwane would prefer less hype placed on young players when they break through into the first team. But that horse has already bolted as they say.

Shabalala was superb in providing the assist for the only goal of the game against Richards Bay. And two wins in a row has Chiefs fans dreaming of a fairytale ending to the season.

Don’t hype them up – Zwane

Shabalala has was the fans’ approval and many have now likened hime to “Tsiki-Tsiki”. But it’s something that coach would prefer did not happen. At least not right now.

“When it comes to that one it’s unfortunate, I spend maybe two to four hours a day with Mdu, you know, it depends who are the people who spend the most time with him,” Zwane told iDiski Times.

“Yes we share ideas with his father, he comes from a very good background, so they’re helping us. But the challenge is, it’s not only Mdu, these are the challenges most of our talented players are facing out there.

Players can’t not hear the noise

“The way we hype them up and we end up saying things we shouldn’t be saying, and as soon as they hear those things, sometimes they start thinking they have arrived.”

Zwane revealed that Chiefs have processes and teams internally to help players cope with the fame and spotlight that playing for the club brings.
