Maritzburg coach Fadlu Davids tip Arrows and Swallows to field their best side when they face relegation-threatened Chippa and Gallants.

Maritzburg United appears to be safe for now thanks to their 1-1 draw with DStv champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

The KwaZulu Natal based team have climbed to 14th on the log thanks to Ali Meza‘s 71st minute equaliser at the Loftus Versfeld on Tuesday night.

Maritzburg are now one point clear of Chippa United and Marumo Gallants who still have to play their last matches this weekend.

They now have to sit and wait for Saturday’s games. Chippa plays Arrows while Gallants on Swallows.

Maritzburg coach Fadlu Davids has urged both Arrows and Swallows to field their best side.

“We put the pressure over to Chippa and Marumo Gallants. Golden Arrows, their players are going to be under much scrutiny, one mistake and everybody will be saying, what happened?

“Änd of course, Marumo Gallants playing Swallows, their players have to play on their toes and be professional bcause the whole world is going to watch,” said Maritzburg United mentor.

Both Chippa and Gallants need a draw to survive however a loss for one of them will see them relegated.

Speaking to SuperSport TV, Davids said his side had chances to score in the first half despite going 1-0 down.

“And of course the second half how we flipped the mindset to really go with the high press, and to really go on a front foot…It’s the first time since I am here that we(Maritzburg) played two days between a match. It wasn’t about fatigue, it wasn’t about anything, it was about mindset.

“On the otherhand, I want to say congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns, my colleague coach Rulani and the two coaches behind him..I wish they can win this Champions League.They play good football and are putting South Africa on the map,” Davids said
