It’s been well over a month since shocking images came to light which implicated rising England star and Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood in a case of serious domestic abuse.

The dramatic story broke across the globe at the end of January when social media posts appeared on the Instagram account of one-time girlfriend Harriet Robson, with the images revealing bruises and cuts on her body and a caption stating: “To everyone who wants to know what Mason Greenwood actually does to me”.

The series of disturbing posts clearly indicated a case of domestic abuse, while an audio clip also emerged that implicated Greenwood in abusive and threatening behaviour.

Greenwood was subsequently arrested, before being released on bail as the police continue to investigate the matter.

Although the Greenwood case has gone relatively quiet since then, we take a look at everything we do know at this point:

What have the police said?

On the evening of 30 January, news first emerged that Greenwood had been arrested on “suspicion of rape and assault”, with the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) stating they had been granted more time to question him.

The 20-year-old was later released on bail, but not before further charges were levelled against him based “on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill”.

It’s recently been reported that Greenwood’s bail will expire on 30 April after his arrest on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and threats to kill. The GMP confirmed that his bail could be extended, though, while confirming that Greenwood’s accuser has been offered “specialist support”.

On 23 February, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed to The Sun that inquiries are continuing as they gather more evidence.

What have we heard from Mason Greenwood?

Greenwood has not spoken publicly since the story broke, while there has also been no word from his legal representatives.

Once an active user of Instagram, with 2.8million followers to his name, Greenwood has not made a post since 25 January.

What has Harriet Robson said?

In early February, Robson – who is said to have provided her statement to police – posted a message to say she would be taking a break from social media.

“I’m grateful to everyone that has sent messages of support and encouragement – thank you,” she wrote. “The last few days have been very difficult and I’m taking a break from social media while the police make their investigations.”

That post on 3 February has been the last public comment made by Robson. In the aftermath of the original social media posts that revealed the alleged abuse, her father initially stated that Robson’s phone was “hacked” and that she didn’t want the pictures to be released.

“She has told us her phone has been hacked. We told her to take it down, which she has done but it’s out there now so it is too late,” Robson’s father was quoted as saying. “She is devastated because she didn’t want it released. We have known him (Greenwood) since the under 21s. He has been part of our family for two or three years. Their relationship has not been good for the last few months. She is completely devastated by it all. They were very much in love and have been together for a while. The police are dealing with it now.

“As a father you don’t want to know things like that happening to your daughter. The police have been round and she has made a statement to them,” he added.

What is the stance of Manchester United?

United have reaffirmed their “strong condemnation” of violence after Greenwood was arrested. He has been suspended indefinitely by the club and has not played since the Premier League fixture against West Ham on 22 January.

However, United are still said to be paying Greenwood’s full salary (reported to be £75,000-a-week) as the police investigation continues.

By all accounts, Greenwood will not return to Old Trafford until the conclusion of the case. “As previously communicated, Mason Greenwood will not train with, or play for, the club until further notice,” United have last stated.
