Manchester United legend in ICU
Former Manchester United and Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is currently in the intensive care unit.

Former Manchester United and Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar in intensive care in hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage on Friday.
Ajax Amsterdam confirmed that the 52-year-old former Dutch international was in a stable condition.

“On Friday, Edwin van der Sar has had a bleeding around his brain. He’s currently in hospital in the intensive care unit and is in a stable condition. Once there is more concrete information, an update will follow. Everyone at Ajax wishes Edwin a speedy recovery,” Ajax said in a statement.
The former Manchester United stopper recently resigned from his position as a Chief Executive Officer of Ajax. He transfered his duties to his colleagues on the Board of Directors from 1 June 2023.

The Supervisory Board then requested van der Sar to formally remain in his position until August 1, to ensure a good transfer of both national and international dossiers.

“After almost eleven years on the board, I am done. We have experienced wonderful things together, but it has also been an incredibly tough period. I am very grateful for the people I have met and worked with during my second career at Ajax, and what we have achieved and been through together,” said the Manchester United legend.
“I feel the need to take some distance, to get some rest, and to do other things. It doesn’t feel good to take decisions about the future of this wonderful club in the coming period. That is why I have decided to resign,” he said in his resignation letter to Ajax a few weeks back.
Manchester United took to their social media to wish Van der Sar well.
“Sending all our love and strength to you, Edwin.”
Van der Sar played over 300 games for Ajax and 200 for Man United in his 20 year football career.
