Mamelodi Sundowns now guaranteed R56 million from AFL!

Mamelodi Sundowns are now guaranteed a whopping R56 million from the African Football League (AFL) no matter what happens in the final.

Mamelodi Sundowns are now guaranteed a whopping R56 million from the African Football League (AFL) no matter what happens in the final.

On Wednesday, the Brazilians sealed their passage to the final of the inaugural AFL tournament by ousting Al Ahly.

Sundowns played to a 0-0 draw with Al Ahly on the night but advanced with a 1-0 aggregate win over the Egyptian giants.

In reaching the AFL final, Sundowns have secured a $4 million in prize money and so is Wydad who beat Esperance in the other semi-final.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS SECURE R56 MILLION BUT SET SIGHTS ON R75 MILLION PRIZE MONEY

While R56 million is a lot of money, Sundowns have firmly set their sights on the ultimate prize money which is around R74 million.

However, they will have to beat Wydad and be crowned AFL champions in order to score that money.

The runners-up will then pocket R56 million as well as silver medals for their efforts in reaching the AFL final.

WHEN IS THE AFL FINAL BETWEEN MAMELODI SUNDOWNS AND WYDAD?

Now, the question on almost everyone’s lips is the dates for this mouth-watering final between the two African giants.

The final of this inaugural AFL tournament will be played over two legs just like we saw with the quarter-finals and the semi-finals.

On Sunday, 5 November, Sundowns will visit Wydad for the first leg at Mohamed V Sports Complex. Kick-off is yet to be confirmed.
